چکیده
Rapid and reliable flood information is crucial for minimizing post-event catastrophes in the complex river basins of world. The Chenab River basin one world, facing adverse hydrometeorological conditions with unpredictable hydrologic response. Resultantly, many vicinities along undergo destructive inundation, resulting huge life economic losses. In this study, Hydrologic Engineering Centre–Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS) HEC–River Analysis (HEC-RAS) models were used forecasting inundation modeling basin. HEC-HMS model was peak flow simulation 2014 event using Global Precipitation Mission (GMP) Integrated Multisatellite Retrievals-Final (IMERG-F), Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission_Real Time (TRMM_3B42RT), Satellite Mapping Precipitation_Near Real (GSMaP_NRT) precipitation products. calibration validation HEC-RAS carried out events 1992 2014, respectively. comparison observed simulated at outlet indicated that IMERG-F has good results. extent revealed an overall accuracy more than 90% when compared satellite imagery. performed well Manning’s n 0.06 floodplain. India: Flood Management - Damodar River Basin
Information is provided about the approach and experience in flood management in the Damodar river basin of India. This is achieved through a scheme for the integrated operation of a number of reservoirs on that river and on its tributaries for the purpose of irrigation, hydropower generation and flood protection. Of particular interest is the recent change in policy towards a multi-disciplinar...
متن کاملFlood Risk and River Basin Management
The aim of this study is to identify the sources of uncertainty that induce the largest uncertainties in the model outcomes and quantify this uncertainty using expert elicitation. Analysis of expert opinions showed that the Qh-relation and the roughness predictor of the main channel cause the largest uncertainties for design water level computations. For effect studies, the floodplain topograph...
متن کاملFlood Risk and River Basin Management
Recent scenario studies on water management focus on one or two projection years and the effects on the water system and functions. The future is however more complex and dynamic. Therefore, we analyse transient scenarios in order to evaluate the performance of water management strategies. Current available simulation tools are not suitable for this purpose. Therefore, we have developed and use...
متن کاملReal time flood forecasting in the Upper Danube basin
This paper reports on experience with developing the flood forecasting model for the Upper Danube basin and its operational use since 2006. The model system consists of hydrological and hydrodynamic components, and involves precipitation forecasts. The model parameters were estimated based on the dominant processes concept. Runoff data are assimilated in real time to update modelled soil moistu...
متن کاملTrend of Floods in Asia and Flood Risk Management with Integrated River Basin Approach
This paper presents the findings of an analysis of flood disaster trends in Asian countries during the last 30 years. The analysis was carried out to understand the changing characteristics of flood disasters in Asian countries in the past three decades with the rapid changes in socio-economic conditions. The second half of the paper presents the results of a modeling study of flood risk manage...
